Oh My Girl – Liar Liar MV

2 Apr

After releasing one of last year’s most underrated songs in Closer (I loved this song), Oh My Girl have returned with a cute new pop song, Liar Liar.

It’s taken a little while for the song to grow on me but it’s wiggled into my head and I’m really enjoying it. Although the pre-chorus is my favourite part of the song and at first listen it sticks out as it feels the chorus doesn’t really build on the pre-chorus, I’ve gotten over that and really like the song.

They also continue their high production values from their last music video. The MV is a bright, rainbow inspired landscape full of lots of different visuals. It feels like a comic book!  Check it out below.

Crayon Pop return with FM!

29 Mar

Crayon Pop have made their long await comeback with another infectious K-pop song called FM.

I’m currently obsessed with this song but even more obsessed with their music video:

The concept sees the girls transform into superheroes like the Power Rangers or Super Sentai with a little bit of Sailor Moon thrown in for good measure.

The music video is awesome! It strikes the right balance in humour and cuteness and sees Crayon Pop go to war with villains and ultimately triumph and save the world.

The song is also fantastic – it’s a mid-tempo pop song which is slightly more mature than their previous songs. However, they still show their infectious choreography skills with a simple yet addictive dance routine.

Crayon Pop FM choreography video

You can see the choreography video to FM above. In fact, Crayon Pop are launching a special global dance music video competition where you could be one of 10 lucky people to win an autographed CD. Details below:

Crayon Pop FM Dance Cover Competition

Crayon Pop announced that they holds a global cover dance event for “FM” on YouTube.

This dance cover contest will last between 25th March 2015 to 11th April 2015 and anyone can participate by uploading their dance cover link on YouTube.

Crayon Pop will choose the 10 winners themselves and each will win an autographed CD.

Stay tuned as I’ll be soon uploading a new blog article featuring a gallery of my favourite scenes from the FM MV. Crayon Pop hwaiting!

SHINee – Everybody Gallery

27 Oct

SHINee are back and with an amazing new hit! They’re currently winning mutizens left, right and center! I love me some SHINee. They work endlessly and in this video they are killing the choreography. Oh my god, it’s a bit of a joke how good it is. It’s like out of a dancing competition!

Kudos to SHINee, they definitely deserve all the love they are getting now and they’re quickly becoming my favourite K-pop boyband. What do you think of the MV? It’s epic!

T-ara – Number 9 Gallery

13 Oct

After a long time away, the girls from T-ara are back with their smash hit new song, Number 9! The girls have returned with another fantastic pop song that will find its way into your head and it’ll stay there for ages! You’ll be singing Number 9 all day :)

The MV looks awesome too! The girls have really stepped it up and returned with a mature image – very different from Sexy Love. Each of the girls look fierce and bring it in their own way. Big shout outs go to Qri for eating a flower(!) and for Boram for being cute and tiny yet fierce and fighting. Have you listened to the song yet? Do you like it?

G-Dragon – Crooked MV Gallery

22 Sep

G-Dragon recently returned with his hit new single, Crooked. The MV was shot in London – that’s where I live! In all seriousness, I recognise some of the places he filmed in the MV! That’s pretty epic. But, without further ado – check out latest gallery featuring stills from the music video.

I love the song and I really dig the cinematography. It’s nice to see something different in the K-pop scene. G-Dragon’s style is flawless and you can’t beat a bit of Vivienne Westwood.

Girls’ Generation – GALAXY SUPERNOVA PV Review

15 Sep

The Girls are back and bringing it from out of this world! Girls’ Generation have returned with an absolute belter of a J-pop tune that is going to be released on the 18th September 2013. Co-written by Junji Ishiwatari, who has previously worked with Superfly, alan, FT Island and SHINee, the song has an addictive chorus that’ll have you hooked from the first opening bars.

And while I could wax lyrical all day about how much I love the song, tonight I’m going to be reviewing the promotional video/music video for Galaxy Supernova. And I think the PV is an awesome accompaniment to the song.

SNSD - Galaxy Supernova PV Review

Nope, this isn't a remake of Gee!

Nope, this isn’t a remake of Gee!

The PV begins by referencing Girls’ Generation smash-hit, Gee where the band was decked out in jeans and white t-shirts. It quickly cuts to one of the style concepts – think a Gap advert meets 70s sci-fi and you’ll come close. The whole music video is set against an LED screen back drop which is very reminiscent to Justin Timberlake’s Rock Your Body.

It’s bright, flashy and in your face from the very start. All of the girls look flawless and the second outfit that they rock takes the retro sci-fi theme further and sees the group channel their best Betty Jetson looks.

SNSD - Galaxy Supernova PV Review

Flawless! The dance moves are on point. While the choreography looks deceptively simple, you can tell that it’s hard. The other thing is, of course, they never miss a beat. For me, SNSD (and any other SM Town artist), are absolute professionals. They don’t make mistakes. Ever. Not even a hair is out of place in this video!

Sooyoung – A star is born

The stand out performer in this music video is Sooyoung. She’s owning every frame like Angelina Jolie at the Oscars. Someone else taking centre stage? No worries! I’ll still steal the scene. Sunny giving her cutest aegyo? I will out fierce her and her new long hair. I am living for Sooyoung in this music video! Here are some of my favourite Sooyoung moments!

Everyone else is like, no no, look away - Sooyoung is staring you down.

Leaaaaaaaaaan.

Aegyo? Pft. I amout fiercing Sunny with my right arm.

Yes, bitches. Number 1.

Yes, bitches. Number 1.

Eat it.

Eat it.

Fierce! Sooyoung isn’t even my favourite member of Girls’ Generation but I have to admit that she is owning this music video like it was the juicest piece of bulgogi ever! I wave my white flag to you, Sooyoung, I wave it hard. (oT-T)尸

Highlights from the GALAXY SUPERNOVA music video

But that’s not to say that there aren’t also many other highlights. One of them is the crazy around the world dancing and the kicking parts. It’s generally awesome all round. But, for individual scene stealers, I present to you Jessica, Taeyon and Yuri.

Pew pew.

Winking and pointing - too cute! ^^

Hadouken!

Do you think Yuri could be a hand model if she ever quits SNSD?

Do you think Yuri could be a hand model if she ever quits SNSD?

Overall, I’m going to say this is an awesome PV from the girls – one of their best! They music videos are never crazy but with their styling, choreography, natural charm and absolute flawless delivery I can’t fault them. This is going right up there as one of my favourite SNSD songs so I salute you, galactic Girls’ Generation! Live long and prosper.

9 Jun

IVY is making a hot come back and this time she’s joined by none other than the wonderful Yubin from the Wonder Girls! There isn’t a MV released yet but you can check out her performance from the Korean SNL above! I’ve written up the romanized/romaji lyrics to I Dance below. I apologise in advance if there’s any mistakes. Let me know and I’ll fix them!

I love this song, and it’s great to see Yubin owwwwwn that stage. I <3 IVY so it’s epic seeing her and Yubin share the same stage!

CL – The Baddest Female – Inkigayo June 9th 2013 – Review

9 Jun

I’ve waited for this stage! CL dominating Inkigayo as The Baddest Female! I heart 2NE1. I’m not a Blackjack by anyone’s standard but I love 2NE1 all the same. To me, they are the most credibly street out of all the K-pop acts. PSY has got his thing, but let’s be honest ¬_¬ CL could rap him under the table ands till have time to do the unnie and the horse dance *flicks weave*

It gives me great pleasure to review CL’s mutizen winning performance on Inkigayo today! Check out the review below and let me know what you think!

Style & Staging

CL - The Baddest Female - Inkigayo June 9th 2013

My own personal style is a bit more preppy than CL’s, but you got to admit, she looks flawless here. Her baggy red pants and braided hair make her look the right side of street. You got to also love the dancers – they look creepy but cool at the same time!

Also, this deserves its own paragraph, I bloody love her grill! How cool! It looks a bit scary but pft, I think she rocks it and looks hot.

Mid way through the performance, after the bridge, CL breaks it down and transforms into a glamorous diva! Her one piece is daring (check them legs!) but she keeps it glamorous without being cheap. Check them legs again! I thought CL’s style and staging was flawless and while it might not be as grand as some of 2NE1’s group stages, it still rocked!

CL - The Baddest Female - Inkigayo June 9th 2013

Overall rating for Style & Staging – 5 / 5 stars.

Choreography

I LOVE the dance for The Baddest Female. I love it to the point I catch myself doing it randomly around the house. It takes me back to the r and b days of my youth *ahem* Everything is just so effortless. CL makes the whole routine seem like she’s just swagging out.

I have to admit that some of the movements I find a bit questionable but she rocks them out flawlessly. I’m going to do the unnie right after I finish this post #justsaying

CL - The Baddest Female - Inkigayo June 9th 2013

Overall rating for Choreography – 5 / 5 stars.

Vocals

As this is mostly a rap song, and CL is a rapper, there isn’t that much singing happening here. Nonetheless, CL gives a perfect vocal performance. In fact, it’s pretty much the same as the studio version.

CL - The Baddest Female - Inkigayo June 9th 2013

Overall rating for Vocals – 5 / 5 stars.

Overall Score

The Overall Score for CL’s The Baddest Female performance on Inkigayo is… 5 / 5 stars!

Review Conclusion

As a little bonus too – he’s Dara storming the stage to celebrate CL’s mutizen award! How cute.

Oh my god, it's Dara!
